El Loco

And what is with this new bridge in Oceanside?

I happen to think the folks on the city council has been taking kick backs. Like this bridge. It cost millions, and it goes to a Harbor that has already been built to the max. There is no more room available and the construction has only disrupted the businesses and taken up the parking. It's been a bitch for the local surfers who need a place to park, and when they are done, there will be no more parking available than before.
Did the city do all this because there wasn't a sidewalk on Pacific Street that goes south through the residential area? Gee a simple side walk would have been much cheaper and they could have spent some money on fixing all the bad spots on Pacific St. and Oceanside Blvd.
I happen to think the new bridge narrows the river too much and if a big rain storm ever hits .... Who knows, will it wash out?
One thing for sure, it will take years before the businesses in the harbor will recoup the losses in profits during the construction. And the residences along Pacific St will have to live with more traffic that would otherwise be going out to the freeway. And not to mention more pot holes on Pacific Street.

And get this: the City of Oceanside is paying a firm $700,000.00 to study the parks along the water front just for future improvements. Hell I would have done it for $10,000.00. I'm sure it's just a bunch of paper that really doesn't get read.
All and all, the businesses in the harbor and the folks along Pacific St., will no doubt have their property taxes raised.
